FOSTERING IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NATIONAL ROMA INCLUSION STRATEGY AT LOCAL AND REGIONAL LEVEL

 On 4 November 2015, Roma National Council from Zagreb, in partnership with the Center for Peace, Legal Advice and Psychosocial Assistance Vukovar, launched implementation of the project "Fostering implementation of the National Roma Inclusion Strategy at local and regional".

Implementation of the project is financed by the EU within IPA 2012 program under the call "Building Capacities of CSOs for Ensuring Effective Implementation of the EU Standards in the Enforcement of Human Rights“ (ref. number: EuropeAid/135875/ID/ACT/HR), through the Central Finance and Contracting Agency - CFCA, as the contracting authority in the Republic of Croatia. Project is co-financed by the Office for NGOs of the Croatian Government. The total project value is € 99,360.74.

The overall objective of the project is to foster the implementation of the National Roma Inclusion Strategy 2013-2020 (NRIS) at local and regional level, while specific objectives include appropriate enhacement of the capacities of elected Roma national minority councils/individual representatives and Roma CSOs at the level of local and regional self-government units; fostering and strengthening the dialogue and more quality cooperation amongst Roma stakeholders and representaives of local and regional authorities and relevant public institutions; and strengthening the work of local and regional inter-sectoral NRIS monitoring commissions.

Key activities of the project are:
▪ Capacity building of local and regional Roma national minority councils/individual representatives and Roma CSOs for cooperation with local and regions self-government units authorities;
▪ Development and / or strengthening cooperation between local and regional Roma and public sector stakeholders;
▪ Advocacy and development of inter-sectoral cooperation in implementation of NRIS at local and regional, and national level;
▪ Outreach and ensuring the visibility of the project;
▪ Monitoring and evaluation.

The project will be implemented until February 2017 in Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Moslavina, Brod-Posavina, Koprivnica-Križevci and Zagreb counties, with involvement and participation of 8-12 units of local and regional self-government in which councils and individual representatives of Roma minority have been elected on elections held in May 2015.
